How do private transfers work in CA?

Hello I just got to CA on Saturday and there's some guns I'm interested in in the private sales section.
I tried looking at the DOJ website but it's not very user friendly.

is there any guide posted somewhere? do you need a dealer for in person transfers?

Welcome to CAL GUNS.... If there is a gun your looking to purchase from a private seller, all you have to do is contact the seller and then meet them at an FFL dealer for a transfer. The FFL dealer will charge you around $35 to do the paperwork, meanwhile holding onto your gun while the ten day waiting period elapses from DOJ. After that your the proud owner of another firearm in CA!
