Firearms Training - GREAT value! (no, not Front Sight))

"Thank You" to TACTICAL AVENUES for hosting the Calguns Tactical Turkey Warmup.

A great day of training by LAPD Team Leaders for their "Defensive Handgun" course.

We started a bit later than the stated start time, but we got a lot covered anyway.

It included a very challenging course of fire that included requirements to shoot from prone, kneeling, pie a barricade using it as cover, entry through an actual working door, and shooting from around 35 yards. (I struggled with much of this course of fire, but learned a tremendous amount from shooting it. Wish we could have run through it again!)

The man on man drills on steel (from the draw, one handed) were such a hoot! People were grabbing new "partners" to go with. Very positive, very fun! Everyone was VERY supportive of each other throughout the day, GO CALGUNNERS!!!

The best part of the day was when Roundeye was shooting his .22 conversion Glock 23 and blasting away at a pepper popper...

and it wouldn't fall! He had solid hits, but the little .22 rounds just didn't have the "oomph" to knock it over. Fun to watch, wish I had a video to upload!

At $65 per day (most courses are 2 day courses), they are an absolute bargain in the firearms training world!

Safety on the range was maintained at all times.

I was most impressed by the number of instructors present. Personally, I'm always wary of instructors that teach alone, or have large classes with only 2 people running it (primary and assistant instructor). The assistant is usually not instructing, but setting up the next drill. There were 3 instructors, and there was another instructor present as well (the President of the company).

The bang for your buck with this training group is very impressive.

Owning a gun is one thing. Knowing how to use it is another.

Would recommend trying them out at least once to see what they have to offer. I plan on taking a shotgun or shotgun/pistol course sometime in the near future with them.

Feel free to PM me if you have any ?s.
