    Check your HSC!!

Went up to Ernie's place to buy a 1911 the other day and come to find out my HSC had expired (5 years).. Ernie said a lot of them are expiring this year and early next year.. Luckily he had some tests so all was Good, But if he had not it would have been a LONG drive for nothing.. Check Em...

They all have different expiration dates dude. Mine doesn't expire til 02-2016.

Forgot to mention, I actually don't even need my HSC. I have a Exposed Firearms Permit. When I purchase a new gun or do a PPT, I just give them my ID, Guard Card and Exposed Firearms Permit.

True but it is easy to forget it expires because you don't exactly get a renewal notice in the mail.

Just dont do like me. Re-certify then loose the damn card and have to take the test and pay again a few months later because I must have instant gratification.

It is incredibly lame they even expire. Morons. Could argue
the same for even having the requirement. But 5 years and
                  it expires? Man....

                    I'm glad I don't need a HSC. I have two exemptions.

Mine expires 2/12. Just checked it a few days ago as I'm planning on buying a pistol soon.

It's too bad you cant opt for a renewal notice or just a "Hey your HSC is gonna expire... come in to ____ to renew" letter. It'd be different if it expired every 2 years, thats something a little easier to remember but 5 years, you can easily go a few years without purchasing a firearm and just forget about the HSC.

They last 5 years from when they were first issued to you. A lot of them will expire every year until Cali gets rid of this extra tax.

I'm good with my CA CCW, but need to renew every 2 years. Wish they went 5 years, like AZ.
