Pistol to rifle and back again?

I was talking to a fellow calgunner a few weeks ago who told me that it's now kosher to go from a pistol to rifle then back to a pistol. I know this was a no no for a long time. Tried to find some threads about it and google brings up some older stuff.

So guys has there been some change I been in the dark about?

BATFE now says it's okay.

CA's SBR laws trump that and say it's a no-no unless you want to be the test case.

Bottom line...
Don't do it in CA, unless you are willing to be arrested and spend $$$$$ on fighting a SBR charge.
