Looking to buy a new shotgun but was wondering if stores have holiday prices that I should wait for.

Big 5 has "sales" every few weeks I think. Maybe look for holiday pricing, but also remember the 2012 elections are coming up, which means we might see an increase in prices despite any holiday "deals"
If it looks like a decent price (look it up on google shopping), go ahead and buy it. If it's high, I would wait and look for a better deal for at least 3 weeks, if none appears, probably buy it.
I am not knowledgeable in riverside gunshops though so I will let riversideians chime in -
bass pro around this time should start coming out with the 870 for about $269-279 after the remington rebate.Comment

The "gun world" in general doesn't do the whole annual model thing like cars, so there isn't really much of a general clearance period. Plus, you're in CA so it's not like we really have much of a season(well most of CA anyway, and especially since you're in riverside. It was 85 outside when I was in Anaheim during the Christmas season last year) where outdoor sports are unreasonable and drive down costs to move product. Election years drive prices up(because people panic buy). Other than with maybe some manufacturer rebates or a black friday ad or something, just keep browsing and see what the prices look like over the course of 3-4 weeks.Comment

Big 5, Turners, Bass Pro...
just watch their websites and use any coupons possible, remington has a rebate currently"You will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it."
