    Socal Firearms Training

    Hello,
I did some searching but didnt find the answer to my question. My wife is out of the blue starting to show a big interest in guns, shooting, and hunting. Shes popped off some 22 rounds in Colorado Camping before but nothing crazy. I want to introduce her right and want a good intro class somewhere near Chino, CA that will show her the basics but not over load her with info.
We just bought her a Marlin 795 .22 rifle to start her off before she touches my big boys. Any comments or suggestions on good places? Im all for attending the class with her as well as you never know what you'll learn and it will be something we can do together.

    Thanks in advance!

There's a really basic one offered at Raahauges in Corona offered through the Firearms Training Associates(FTA):

I think you can sign up for these in person at any Turners' Outdoorsman store.

I'm a beginner with 700 rounds of experience and I'll be taking a defensive handgun course through Civilian Arms Training over at Prado:

    "

    Objectives:

To safely perform the five-count draw

To learn the proper loading and unloading of a firearm
To learn exact shot placement for desired results
To learn techniques in IMMEDIATE ACTION stoppage/malfunction drills
    To engage multiple targets
To perform deliberate fire from 25 yards
To hone existing skills by repetition of the fundamentals
To learn how to survive a lethal threat confrontation
    "

But that one is probably not one you'd be interested in putting her in first, I assume. Would be great as a second plus you can get a voucher for any of their classes at the local gun shows around here to lower the total cost.

Edit: Ohp, I forgot about this one. This should be another good basic course in Brea:

I concur with Javi, FTA is a great place to start and grow your skills.

I have taken several classes at FTA. They have basic training as well as woman only classes; some women do better without men/their husband in their class, so I hear.

The best part is they have the End of The Month Club. On the last Saturday of the month they have several instructors who run drills and allow you to practice what you have learned. The cost is minimal, $25 for range fee and targets.

Check out Civilian Arms Training. They teach over at Prado Olympic Shooting park in Chino. www.civilianarmstraining.com. If you look in the classes section and under specialty, they have a women's only beginner's course and also a basic entry level handgun course (I don't think it's listed yet but should be on their calendar)

Great school, instructors are great and emphasize safety all the time. You can buy vouchers from them at the gun show and that will cut the cost of the class by almost 1/2. You can view more details about that in the signup section under how to pay for classes.

For beginning rifle training I highly recommend Project Appleseed. It's cheap and very comprehensive. For beginning handgun I recommend Gregg Block and his classes aren't all that far from you. I've seen how he handles beginning ladies and he's very good.
