??? Does Oregon wave waiting period?

Is Oregon one of the states that waves the waiting period on handgun purchases for LTC/CCW/CHL holders?

Why are you asking? If you're thinking about moving to Oregon, that's one thing, but you can't just drive up there and buy a handgun.

25 minutes? what takes them so long? no joke- from the time i got out of my truck at the gun store until the time i got back in it on my last gun purchase here in texas was a hair over 10 minutes. it was 2 guns (1 handgun, 1 rifle) which were on the same dros form.
Iam a good shot. At least i think i would be. Iam a good free throw shooter.

In OR, the "waiting period" is dependent on how fast you can fill out an ATF 4473 form and the FFL dealer getting your NICS results.
Usually, done under 30 mins and as fast as 10 mins.

This is how it is for all states that do not have a waiting period.

In some states, like AZ, having a valid CCW permit exempts you from NICS, so you can be done in less time (under 10 mins).

WA state CHL holders are also expempt from their waiting period, its five days for pistols. I dont know about NICS.

Unrelated, my permit says "All local firearm laws must conform with state law" in big capitols. I like that my permit spells out how strong state preemption is, and to ignore or report local ordinance's that violate state law. In Oregon, cities (portland) can pass laws that prohibit OC in public (the OR courts have ruled that your car is a "public place...") but permit holders can ignore them. Also in Washington, you cant have a loaded gun in a car without one, even to open carry as far as I can tell, but I may be wrong. Point is OR and WA CHL holders can do things "regular" gun owners cant do.

Its worth getting the permit just to skip or ignore the background checks, waiting periods and disarmament laws passed by anti gun liberal hand wringers...

In one way its kind of cool, it must be what cops feel like in CA when they get exempted from the laws that regular peons or "civilians" have to follow. In another way, it disgusting that some pigs are more equal. Either way, its easy fast and cheap to get a permit in both states (OR non res permits are may issue) there's really no reason not to get one. I am suprised more gun owners dont have them. WA is one of the original "shall issue" states, going back to the sixities I believe.

Oregon does not wave the waiting period. They just do not have one in the first place.

Does Texas really have their own DROS system or was dan12580 just talking about a 4473?
