    Gun Genie question

So I love looking up prices on Gun Genie, but one thing that seems to be missing on the information is if DROS is included in the final price? Most say if you need an HSC then additional fees will apply.

    But here is an example
    Sale Price: $495.59
    Addit'l Fees: $11.95
    Tax: $36.55
    Sub Total: $544.09
    DEPOSIT: ($143.75)
    BALANCE DUE: $400.34

Since that is one of the lowest "additional fees" as most are $25 and up obviously DROS is not included, which makes me assume most of those additional fees are for shipping the weapon into the store from the distributor (and that is not the true balance due when you get to the store).

So any comments from actual users of Gun Genie would be great! I will be calling the store when it opens but would be nice to hear from someone that has used the service and knows firsthand.

    Thanks!

No the DROS is not included. The gunstore on base uses Gal of Guns and the DROS was extra. Happy gun hunting!
The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

Thank you! That adds a whole new spin to the deal. Each price needs the DROS tacked on.

One thing I find kinda strange is I was just pricing this weapon at a local store (in stock product) and the price in the store was a lot cheaper then the Gun Genie quoted price from the same store. So I need to do some due diligence on this as that additional fee is pretty steep for a lot of the stores (as high as $60 to $70) and might not always be up to date with in store pricing!

On the retailer search results page it says all applicable fees included, I have used gun Genie at 2 gun stores one charged extra for DROS one didn't. Guess which gun store I'm not returning to.

The FFL that I used with GunGenie included DROS fees in the quote. It is best to call and ask the FFL what is/is not included.

There will not be a transfer fee either. The 60-70 I believe you were referring to.

(Additional fees include all shipping fees to the retailer, applicable state/local background check fees, and other processing fees.)

From Gun Genie website. FFL should not charge anything beyond the quote you receive online unless you do not have a HSC.

If they are charging DROS on top of the quoted price they are ripping you off.

I am thinking the extra $60-$70 is the FFL transfer fee hidden in the cost. Many CA FFLs require an extra $40- $50 even $75 "fee" when you do not buy from their stock.

That shop must have messed up on their account set-up, or playing bait with the lowest price + tack on fees game.
Sub Total should be your out of pocket, no other fees should apply, otherwise tell GoG, and they will make the shop correct their prices, just to be fair with the other shops and an accurate pricing to consumers.

Oh, don't forget about the lock.
If it does not come with one, they can sell it to you if the pistol does not come with one.
Let's not start another lock pricing thread LoL
Pick a well rated local shop to support them In the long term of guns, the minor price difference is moot.

this. IIRC, Davidson's says that you should contact them if a dealer charges you more than the total listed on Gun Genie. The dealer is supposed to list ALL costs on gun genie so that you know the OTD price.

but in a Gun Genie buy, you are "buying from their stock". They set the price that they want to sell it to you for and you are buying it from them so they make the profit. They can do this and not have to actually stock the firearm, they just sell from Davidson's inventory.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Thank you, I'm finding with the fees there is not that big of a difference in price between Gun Genie and local prices I already know about.

For example the gun I listed in that quote was for a RIA Tactical model in .45 cal. I went to my local go to store for ammo and was fondling one to see if I liked how it felt. Their price was $509, so I know I'm going to get hit with Sacto tax rates which is going to be around $45 plus DROS.

So total at my local store is around $570. The listed "deal" obviously is missing the DROS fee so it would be about the same price when all was said and done at an FFL I've never heard of and have no clue if he will be in business tomorrow.

And so far I'm lucky on locks I get them free from my local PD (which my local store was the first to tell me to go to my PD for the free locks).

Thank you all for the answers!

The quoted price is the total OTD price (except for HSC if you don't have one). If they try to add any additional costs, refuse the gun and contact Davidsons. You won't lose your down payment either. You can transfer the sale to another dealer or cancel it for a full refund. Davidsons doesn't appreciate dealers that do this sort of thing.

In our case the quoted price and fees include the DROS. When you buy using Gun Genie there are no hidden fees with us.

Dealers should not be charging an additional transfer fee since you are buying from their stock with GG.

I had this exact thing happen to me. In 2 previous gun genie transactions, the dros was included. In the last one I did the dros wasn't included and I had to pay it during pickup. I reported it to gun genie and they contacted the dealer. Dealer told me they prefer to collect dros in store and thus don't include it on their listed price EVEN THOUGH GUN GENIE SPECIFICALLY STATES ALL FEES INCLUDED. Needless to say I won't be returning to that last ffl I used.
