    Lahti 20mm

What would be required to purchase a Lahti 20mm? It looks like I may be living in a free state soon and have a lead on one. I know they are classified as destructive devices and also curio relics so what would be required to own one?

NFA trust or CLEO sign off, ATF background check, tax stamp and a 4-6 month wait while ATF takes it's time doing the background check.

Also need a CA DOJ Dangerous Weapons Permit for a DD.

A Lathi L-39 20x138mm rifle meets CA's definition of a DD [PC 12301(a)(3)], therefore a CA DOJ Dangerous Weapons Permit for a DD is required in order to legally possess one in CA [PC 12305].
BATFE will not approve a Form 4 for a DD in CA, unless the applicant has a valid CA DOJ Dangerous Weapons Permit.

In order to get a Dangerous Weapons Permit, you need a "good cause".
Currently, the only acceptable "good cause" is for importing/making/selling to Gov/Mil/LE agencies or for use in the entertainment industry.

                    Penal Code 12301
                    (a) The term "destructive device," as used in this chapter, shall include any of the following weapons:
                    (3) Any weapon of a caliber greater than 0.60 caliber which fires fixed ammunition, or any ammunition therefor, other than a shotgun (smooth or rifled bore) conforming to the definition of a "destructive device" found in subsection (b) of Section 479.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations, shotgun ammunition (single projectile or shot), antique rifle, or an antique cannon. For purposes of this section, the term "antique cannon" means any cannon manufactured before January 1, 1899, which has been rendered incapable of firing or for which ammunition is no longer manufactured in the United States and is not readily available in the ordinary channels of commercial trade. The term "antique rifle" means a firearm conforming to the definition of an "antique firearm" in Section 479.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
