    Attempted Cover-up?, Misinformation?

    LA Times Reports:

"Police initially tried to keep word of the burglary a secret and confirmed it only after receiving inquiries from The Times."

"Although the guns had been altered to fire plastic pellets for training exercises, it is possible for them to be restored to fire regular ammunition. LAPD Chief Charlie Beck has downplayed that possibility"

They acknowledge that parts and video's are available to create a fully functional firearm in under 5 min.

And apparently...they also admit an AR-15 missing....how many?...only one, really?

Fully Automatic Firearms are not secure and stolen, secrecy "cover-up" in the admission of error, and now we know have been sold on the street.

    Who to blame?

The low-life thiefs? or the irresponsible handling of firearms?

The SWAT commander who was responsible for leaving them in the locker instead of driving them 9 blocks back to the station is to blame.

The theft is bad enough. But what is really bad is the fact that there is no accepted accountability for either a serious breach in security for locking up the weapons or in the supervision/investigations of the incident. the conduct of the police is almost worse than the theft based on what little information that has been released to the public.

The company is Simunition, and this is the instructional video.

Heres all the parts you need to assemble the gun back to a non suppressed version, no paperwork required.

Shop the largest selection of factory and aftermarket Heckler and Koch parts, upgrades, and accessories for MP5, SP5, VP9, P30, HK416, MR556, G3, and more. HK Parts is your one-stop source for HK magazines, handguards, triggers, stocks, barrels, bolts, and complete parts kits.

That took me all of 5 minutes to find, and I don't even have the gun in front of me. A person with the actual gun in front of them can just look at the parts for the manufactures name and find this even faster.

They have arrested 5 people according to the article in Sacramento Bee:

Interesting: "Police said one of the three guns recovered was an AR-15 assault rifle that SWAT officers did not know had been stolen.

I think that it's been very clear from the beginning that there is a deliberate attempt to minimize the idea that these stolen weapons could be readily converted back to full-auto FIREARMS so as to make this appear less alarming to the public. Let's face it, this whole affair is a debacle to the Police Dept. Handled poorly in almost every way...
