Zombie gun recommendations in .45?

I'm thinking of getting a .45 for outdoor use. I'm not trying to start a thing, but I was wondering who makes the most robust .45? I'm looking for one that can take lots of abuse and cheap reloads, but is still reliable and a good value. Don't worry, I'll take good care of it, but it will be my primary sidearm if the zombie apocalypse happens. Glocks don't like reloads, Kimber is pricy, and it might be hard to find parts for a Bersa after the apocalypse. Maybe XD? Ruger or RIA 1911? I might consider a 9mm because the ammo is cheaper and more plentiful, but .45 would be more effective against the undead. Recommendations?

If it wasn't off-roster I'd say Px4. As it is I'll recommend the P345 based on how stout and ammo-friendly my P94 is.

1: pay the money for something that eats everything. ya never know what youre gonna pick up

3: the undead are exactly that, so a 22lr would be fine. 9mm vs 45 is not the argument. id rather have to keep reloading a 22 revolver than run out of a 45.

5: consider a side arm that uses the same mags as a carbine. ie beretta 92fs and the beretta Cx4 storm
6: re-read #1 and #4. my buddy has a springfield 1911 and it dont like hollow points. i run Kimbers and it shoots everything.

This in the real world may save your life one day, dont cheap out on something that may fail due to dirt or grime.

Glocks don't like reloads? That's news to me and the millions of people that reload for their Glocks. In fact I know people that own Glocks that have never seen a factory round.

A Glock barrel is a tiny amount more sensitive to soft lead bullets, because they tend to build up lead in the barrel. They don't have any issues with properly hardened lead or any type of jacketed bullet.

A Glock or XD would do fine for what you want, as long as they fit your hands.

I would recommend a SIG P220 ST (all stainless.) Built to take a lickin' and keep on tickin' and should eat almost anything you feed it.

Buy what you can afford to shoot on a regular basis so you have the ability to actually hit the side of a barn

Glocks will eat reloads, but when you mention "cheap reloads" remember that any gun can go KABOOM with bad ammo so make sure your reloader is a reputable one.

And a bag of loaded moon clips will get a lot done for you and be rugged as a tank, shoot pretty much anything you like as far as ammo. No malfunctions.

My other choice would be to find a Marlin Camp .45 if you can. Tommy guns are very nice but kinda heavy for what you're talking about. If you do get the Marlin camp (and a bunch of 10 round magazines) you might consider a Rock Island 1911 - they're cheap, generally perform well in terms of reliability, and will take the same magazines as the Marlin.

G30 is a great go to gun.
Can you make hot reloads for the S&W 625s, compared to 45acp for an auto loader? That would make things pretty interesting.

If you're going to kill zombies, you should look cool doing it.

Killing zombies while riding horseback with this gun adds points and may get you laid (to re-populate the human race).

In .45, I'd get an M&P w/ external safety if I was forced to use .45.

In 9mm, I'd go G17, G19, M&P full size or compact without the internal lock.

Undead is stupid. Either their heart is pumping and oxygenating their muscles, or they're dead and not moving. Destroy the heart, destroy the mind. Same as with the living.

If you're worried about 9mm not getting the job done, bring more mags because .45 isn't going to be much different, and bring a rifle or shotgun.

If it's really zombies, I'm all about capacity than caliber.

Therefore, I'd rather run a 9mm Glock with a 33rd mag, as a head shot from that won't be much different than a head shot from a .45 ACP round to the head of a zombie coming at you.

Even if you use a .45 pistol that holds 13-15 rounds (or 17-18 rounds with a mag extension), it's still going to be a lot less than a 33rd mag and probably weigh about the same or more than the 33rd 9mm mag.
