I think you are misunderstanding the idea behind it.

At first the "have a plan to kill everyone you meet.." et cetera is just driving home the point: Never be complacent and always assume a stranger is a threat.

The logic behind it is sound though diction was a problem.

These are all wise words, written based on countless other's experiences.

If you were in Law Enforcement, you would understand.

"Be polite, be courteous, and have a plan to kill everyone you meet." IS one of the Ten Commandments of Law Enforcement.

I do not know 99% of the people I meet during the course of my duties. I do not know your intentions, abilities, or what you have been up to prior to our contact. I do not like you. I do not trust you. I AM formulating a plan to kill you as we speak. If you force me to, I will fight to my last breath to accomplish that plan. I hope it never comes to this, but yes, I am ready.

These are words to live by for the sheepdog, not the sheep.

If this makes you uncomfortable, just be glad your job does not require this of you.

Also be glad that there are men & women who know these words well, and use this knowledge & wisdom to keep you & yours safe.
        Peace.
Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought.

Make sure you function test your ammo and equipment before trusting your life to it.

My friend bought a Rem 870 and loaded it up at home without ever shooting it. I asked him to join me at the range (I paid for fees and ammo) to function test it.

It ran fine with birdshot, 00, & slugs for me, but when he was loading the tube, he shoved an extra round into it and it became lodged pretty badly.

He tried to hand the shotgun to me to fix it, but I told him, "We're here to find out how well your gun works. If there was an intruder that you were loading for in the other room, what would you do right now?"

He worked on it for about 2 minutes trying to get it out by hand. Then he went over to the table and tried using a screwdriver to get the partway loaded shell out. After about 5 minutes total, he finally looks at me and says, "Okay, I can't do it."

I then spent a good 40 seconds trying to UNDO what he's done and managed to get the lightly mangled shell out.

It was a lesson neither of us will ever forget.

In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have let him BANG on the back of the shell with the base of the screwdriver (something about a primer), but I didn't even think about it that day. That could have ended very, very badly.

He's since taken 2 handgun courses. He won't take a shotgun course for whatever reason and says that just shooting with me is good enough.

NO. it's not. but he won't listen.

The ones towards the end are the mindset of a warrior. Avoidance and a plan for engagement. Sun Tzu if ever there was.

It appears a bit over the top for civilians, but I can guarantee you they are accurate and effective. Hard to wrap your mind around without training, but invaluable once you do.

                Clint Smith: "Bring enough gun."
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

my only advice is that if you are ever caught by surprise immediately travel back in time and erase the word surprised from the dictionary.

I don't see any problem with the last few.
