    JDLee-
I just purchased the same safe for all he reasons you stated.
I don't have the space, money, or need for a large safe. I wanted my home defense items & safety items quickly accessible to myself and my wife. I didn't want to be fretting with combo locks in the dark under stress. I didn't want to hide keys somewhere quickly accessible for concern that the kids might find them. I wanted it to fit in my standard closet and still be able to use it as a closet. It was much sturdier construction than the stack on in-wall cabinet. I do wish it were a bit deeper to better handle Pistol grips & scopes. And, I got it for $200, even better

I have no opinion on the barska, but I bought a safe to originally hold my small cache... and now the safe is overflowing! I bought the safe thinking that ill buy a little bigger than needed...I should have bought a lot bigger! Now i'm in the market for another safe...
