First Grader Brings Gun to School

A retired NYPD detective nearly caused a tragedy on Tuesday when she put a loaded pistol in her daughter's backpack - and the girl inadvertently brought it to school.

Interesting news story. Also interesting how they say Nearly Caused a Tragedy.

    Quote from Swat Magazine said:
Wait, she kept the gun in her daughter's backpack? Did she also keep the dangerous household chemicals under the crib? (Although "nearly caused a tragedy" is a little strong; it's not like the gun would have leapt from the backpack and started shooting all by itself.)

The girl's scared classmates met with school therapists on Wednesday. The kids and their parents are still upset.

Did anyone notice that NY went and took all her other guns too over this incident?

Because the girl stopped, didn't touch, and told an adult, just like the HSC book says and probably her cop mom taught her?

If she's retired LE (15 years) her right to carry should be protected Federally under LEOSA, whether NY likes it or not, unless she's under indictment in connection with this incident. Or maybe she can carry but not have guns in the home?

EDIT: Re-read it, it says she is retired and,
Brioso wasn't charged in the incident
so why doesn't LEOSA apply here?

On the local news Saturday, a 12 year old on a youth deer hunt shot himself in the foot while attempting to safe his rifle.
                      Sorry for the thread jack.

Brioso wasn't charged in the incident, but police notified the Administration for Children's Services. Cops also removed two other guns that were legally licensed to Brioso from her home.
So, she wasn't charged with a crime, but, they took away her guns?
                            On what basis?

Probably in some form of Child Endangerment or something ridiculous. They probably think after that, she shouldn't own guns. IMO.
