Experiences with Magpul and Rebuild Pmag Kits

I have been in correspondence with Justin Beard at Magpul to have them send me some mag bodies that they came out with to replace my current LR20 mag rebuild bodies for compatibility with my LMT MWS rifle.

He informed me that they can't ship to CA with even just the mag bodies because Pmags were not made prior to 2000 when the hi-cap ban took place. I explained to him the law and forwarded him the attachment below and now awaiting his response.

Just wanted to keep everyone here in the loop regarding my communication with Magpul as an FYI and also wanted to see if anyone has had the same issues with them in obtaining the mag bodies or other rebuilds, etc. Weird thing is I also found some old posts here on the forum that he has sent members rebuilds in the past as recent as 2010.

I believe Magpul has grown too big to worry about direct retail sales. Majority of their sales is to other retailers. With that said, if you are looking for rifle mag "kits", check out:

    www.Jabtac.com or www.44mag.com

Mags are all regular priced with an additional $1.00 ~ $1.50 for each "kit"

      Hopefully he changes his mind.

Thanks for the post- actually, Magpul as complimentary customer service, sends out LR20 Pmag "bodies" for owners of the LR20 Pmags to swap out with their current pre 5/2011 manufacture magazines in order for trouble free functioning in the LMT MWS rifles (compatibility issue).

So the issue I am having was for them to send me the compatible new mag bodies to replace my current ones in order to use the LR20's in my LMT. And Justin was stating that due to our mag laws he can't send me the replacements bc Pmags were not made prior to 2000. Which makes it odd

They're cheaper here with no disassembly fee, and proceeds go toward development and manufacture of CA compliance devices...

This is actually very strange. I've spoken to several guys at Magpul in the past at length about CA magazine laws in an official/business capacity and they SHOULD understand that parts are parts and that it is in fact perfectly legal for them to ship bodies to CA gun owners.
            Please read the Calguns Wiki
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

CHS- thank you for reinforcing what I have also forwarded Justin Beard at Magpul regarding our laws and mag parts, etc. Would it be possible for you to PM me some names so that I may inform Justin over there, perhaps you may provide me some suggestions on how to go about with this?

Justin Beard's signature on my correspondence has him as Sales Manager.
