Blurr Serial # in pics ?

what is the reasoning behind doing this? I only ask because I was going to put some pics up of my guns but I didn't know if I should block out the serial #

Probably just same reason certain people blur out their license plates. Paranoia I presume. I have a lot of friends who blur out their license plate numbers when they post photos of their car online... I don't know too many citizens with the service to run a check on a plate. Who knows why.

The reason I blur them out is because people can give you a hard time by using your serial number to report your gun stolen.

Same reason I don't post on here using my full name, birthdate, and address. I don't like having my personal information out on the web for everybody in the world to see and use in whatever ways they want.

Safety concern.... I am sure there will be some people that will try to run the numbers.
Maybe I am just paranoid lol.

Hate to break it to ya, but you can find out anything about anybody on the internet. Anybody with some technological knowledge can find out who you are just by your post and the hidden information that's carried along with your post. Its a sad truth but that's the way it is now-a-days. Its a scary world we live in.

Good idea not to say too much (any info) about your personal life.

I don't blur serial #'s in my guns, as I bought them all new except a few that were handed down through family. If someone bought a gun used or had no way of knowing if they were stolen, I could see the reasoning. Heck, I'd put my list of guns along with their serial numbers online. Pretty easy to prove they're mine and impossible to prove they aren't. And last I checked, burden of proof would not be on me.
