Why won't some FFLs sell to CA?

    Why won't some FFLs sell to CA?

    Some sellers specifically won't sell to CA. Why is that? What are the requirements that make some out of State FFLs not want to sell here?

    Probably don't want to bother reading up on the weird laws here. Too many hoops to jump through, sometimes.

      Some think the extra paperwork is too much of hassle, though from what I have read posted on other firearms boards by FFL's who do sell here, it really is not too difficult to do that little bit of extra paperwork.

      I think a lot of it, because I also find the same attitude on other (Not CA specific) gun boards, is just a prejudice against our State because of our liberal policies on guns and other things.

      Some folks are just downright hostile towards California, and seem to think we are all a bunch of medical marijuana smoking, granola eating Commie Libs who hate freedom and hate guns. They just can't grasp that CA probably has more gun owners than their own State. And for reasons I'll never understand, they don't seem to have the same animosity toward other bastions of the looney left like Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey.

      I am sure some of the FFLs here might be able to give a better explanation of the extra paperwork requirements, but nobody is going to be able to explain some people's ignorant prejudices.

        If you got a fire arm shipped to an ffl but you failed ur BG check it's not the online merchants fault...

        Similarly they should be able to ship any size mag and the FLL could keep it or covert it...

        i don't understand why they don't ship stuff here, either.

            I figured it might be a paperwork issue or some bureaucratic nonsense - I can understand that. If it's really based on prejudice and ignorance - that's a fool for a businessman.

            Locking out many millions of potential customers is a poor, short sighted business decision. Here are some numbers for the top 10 Staets:

                Because they dont understand our goofy rules, have a general disdain for them, dont see the extra effort being worthwhile (read 'profitable'), or a combination of the above.

                      I know an out of state FFL who owns a small "Mom & Pop" gunshop who sells thru Gunbroker. He told me he wouldn't sell to Cal. because he had several cases of Cal residents attempting to buy off-list handguns and Cal non-compliant rifles that he had advertized on Gunbroker. He just didn't want to deal with those types of returns/refunds anymore.

                            They are 1%ers. It's the same reason why shops refuse to make even rudimentary websites/use e-mail/publish prices/etc.

                              I have lived in CA for too many years, and I can't even sell some guns in state to Turner's. They're old enough not to be on the "drop list" and if you're not on the drop list, you're SOL with them. I found that out last week - couldn't believe it! A Ruger redhawk is NOT on the CA drop list? That particular version was not on the drop list - too old. So apparently you can't "grandfather" in older versions of a new model.
