Do the Amish use firearms?

If they do, what kind do they use? Muzzle loading flintlocks or percussion?

Single shot only or SxS/ OU? Or do they use bolt action / lever action or semi-auto?

I read a book entitled, "The Amish Way" last year, they seemed to prefer what was termed 'hunting rifles'. Figure a bolt action 30-06.

My wife and I go to Amish country in Ohio every year, the town of Berlin in Holmes County to be exact, we have toured several Amish homes and farms and I have asked them about it also, they do use firearms for hunting and varmint control, most in that area use slugs shotguns for deer & small caliber rifles for pest. Cant really use Hi Power rifles in that area, too many farms around.

They do not use guns for self defense since they will not take another humans life.
