Rolling multiple gun rack or case ?

The fires in Malibu got me thinking. If I had to leave my house in a short time, I would have to grab all my rifles and pistols out of the safe and load them into my truck designated for emergencies.

The only way I can now accomplish this is by rolling them in towels and putting them in the car. So I'm looking for a gun rack or case that can hold maybe 5-10 rifles separated by foam (I guess) that is also rollable and something I can load very quickly. The idea is to have maybe 3 or 4 of these and just load them up with guns in an emergency and quickly load them in to the car.

Any ideas who makes something like this ?

with that many rifles, I would think you would be better off with towels/blankets. Cases are bulky and heavy.

Yup something like that ... just not sure if my 24" barrel AR would fit into one of those.

I just bought a Pelican case like this for my Magazines.

It holds 10 30 round AR mags, 10 HK91 Mags and 10 FN FAL Mags.

          Very pleased with it.

OH and I only paid 20.00 plus shipping.

I take it you would like something the rack in the safe ? I have seen racks like this but on steerable wheels on one end for sale at the Big Reno Gun show.

I've only seen pelican quote prices. The other ones I have seen seem to do government contracts and you need to email them. But the fact that they say we accept government and DOD credit cards tells me they wouldn't be interested in talking to me.

SemiAutoSam ... yes Something like that would work except for the fact that it would be hard to roll that rack into the truck because of its size and dimensions and strange shape.

my great idea is that you can make something custom for WAY cheaper than you will pay for a commercial product. something you buy may be lighter than if you had made one out fo say 1/2" plywood but then again you get to customize your own case.

How about if you build something wooden to lean the rifles on & mount it to a Metro shelf with wheels? You can have another shelf that you can put a foam block with slots cut out for handguns.

It'll be the ugliest thing on the block but it's mobile & will serve it's purpose.

Edit! Get a pick up truck for this set up. Roll in & roll out.

I have a very large SKB case that could probably hold 6-12 rifles depending on size and scoped or not. It does come with wheels. I use it to transport my AR50 without having to break it down! But, for your purposes, I'd go with towels. Cases are bulky and harder to efficiently pack into a vehicle. If you live in an area like Malibu, you may have less than 5 minutes to evacuate. Your gun collection should be divided into categories and of importance so that you can take the irreplacable family herlooms and one or two personal protection guns first. Then, any registered AWs &50BMGs. Third should be your compition and or favorite guns. Next, divide the remaining guns into managable groups based on replacement value.

The biggest thing to remember is to just GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN! The last thing that fire/rescue crews should be doing is rescueing someone who had to get a few last things from his/her home! For 8 years, I lived in a secluded canyon in the hills outside of Malibu and when the fire dept. would do their fire safety check, they always made it clear that in the event of fire, they would not come into our canyon and we'd be on our own. So, I've had plenty of time and reason to figure out what to take, how to pack it and how to best protect what I leave behind.

i thought about making my own but it wouldn't be water proof nor dust proof if I made it out of wood. But then again, I don't want to shell out $900 per case.

if you want to make it waterproof and durable then make it, coat it, then use some roll on bedliner on it. as far as dustproof you can use some of that gasket stuff for the window/ door area of a car / truck. not 100% but good enough to evac with.

or you can get the outer box of it made of aluminum. make the cuts yourself and then have someone tig weld it.

once again, this is just my $0.02
