    Range at Home

Assuming one has the real estate (aka huge basement) to build a range in their home, are there any laws that prevent this?

Well, I think you need to be in a "Shoot Zone"; the Sherrif can tell you.
Also, need to be 100 yards from a dwelling I believe, and shooting in a safe direction.

Local laws would be a problem in many areas. For instance, I believe all of Santa Clara County is a no-shoot zone without the appropriate permits (like a range needs).

Practically speaking (assuming it were legal), ventilation would likely be your biggest issue, depending on what you were shooting.

Shoot zone...city limits off grounds pretty much 100% of the time.

Its also 150 yards...not 100 to the next nearest occupied building.

Probably a lot of local laws much like owning a pool....Gated and/or signage for no tresspapssers.....

I'd make friends with some local deps QUICK too unless you want constant visits with them possibly rolling in on code 3...........all this assuming of course you're still SOMEWHAT near civilization. If not, and you're in the true "out there" pretty much disregard most of what we've all said and just get a nod from the sherriff, BLM, or NFS branch if you land nears/boarder them.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered....

Bullet containment is a big issue, too!

Need to recycle that lead & copper. Tho if you can afford an indoor range, cost of ammo may not be an issue...
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

how about a self contained mobile unit?

or DIY with a few connex.

btw, whatever happened to this underground range?
