Wow that sucks! I'd love to hear more of the story, were they all locked up in a safe? Was the house possibly targeted because of all the guns?

Strikes a nerve, all mine stolen in 95 (22 guns). I dont want to get into it- but I got ZERO help from anyone on my theft... I will keep my eyes and ears open on this. Help comes from everyone working together on this stuff.

            GUN SAFE

That sucks!!! So are you guys telling me that our guns that are locked up in a GUN SAFE can still be stolen or robbed? My gunsafe is bolted down 1/2" x 8" to a concrete ground (4) bolts.

Yeah, like troyJPX said, what can we learn from this as a community? Please give more details. Seems like someone had to know you had all that stuff.

It's been my experience that the authorities regard the theft of firearms as a run of the mill property crime; same as if the thief stole your toaster and your vacuum cleaner. Keep 'em locked up, guys. Safe storage is the only way to go. Oh, and, unless you're with other "gun guys", no need to blabbin' 'bout what you got in totality either.

I really hate when I hear that someone's collection has been stolen!

I hope they catch who did it!

Do keep a separate log of your firearms' serial numbers.

I had a few of mine stolen from my old N'Hollywood address (they were in a lock box and a pelican case ready to go to the range, the thieves did not get anything in the safe), I reported the serial numbers to the officers who came to the scene.

A year and a half later I got a call from a detective at a South Central LA Station, and he confirmed they had retrieved two of my handguns, and to come down and pick them up.
He got flustered when I got down there, because he realized it wasn't as simple as he had thought.
I had to go through a background check, and wait the ten days and then make the trip back down again, he avoided me the second time, saying he didn't remember me.
Anyway, I did get two of the handguns back - but none of the black-powder arms that I did not have a record of serial numbers on.

BTW - they are all deeply engraved with my name on the back-strap - Jesse Johnson in cursive, if anyone comes across them. Colt's Dragoon, Walker, Remington and an antique SAA.

I hope the OP's guns turn up, that is a lot to lose.

Another lesson learned today by keeping a firearm's log of serial number separate place...
