COE but no C&R, any benefits?

So naturally my COE arrived today and I'm still waiting on my C&R, I know the combo provides some good benefits but in the meantime is the COE of any use to me? Does it affect the DROS process at all? Do dealers need a copy of the COE or is it just on file during the DROS?

Good news is that my COE arrived less than a week after mailing. My check hasn't even cleared yet.

    Thanks!

You can work in a gun store . . .

that would probably be more of a liability than a benefit, at least for my budget...

When you start using your COE w/ your C&R, you will want to bring copies of both to leave behind when buying.

I apologies for my ignorance, but what is and how do you get a CEO. I know it stands for Certificate of Eligibility, but I don't know what that means or what it buys you.
          Thanks!

COE is a pretty thorough background check including a livescan of your fingerprints. You get a bad high school looking diploma that's valid for a year and cheaper to keep up yearly. That plus your C&R license gets you two things. It exempts you from the 1 handgun every 30 day limit on all guns. It also allows you to cash and carry C&R long guns in California.

Nice! Where do I apply for that?

Where do I get the money I would need to pay for all the crap I would want to buy??

Wow, really? Having a C&R exempts you from the 1 handgun per 30 day limit? I had no idea.

You need both a C&R and a COE to be exempt from the 1 per 30 day limit. At least I'm half way there!

and if you work for a gun store and have the COE tied to the store, it allows you to possess/trasport customer/shop guns. Big whoop.

Guess I didn't need to worry about the COE without the C&R as the C&R arrived today. Less than two weeks after I mailed both of them. Anyone debating this should definitely do it. I definitely would have done it sooner if I'd known if was that quick and easy.

                        I need to go shopping!
