    Authentic Military U.S. M9 Beretta

I have an authentic military U.S. M9 Beretta and am wondering how much it might be worth.

I purchased this back in the late 1990's from a collector in Huntington Beach, California. It was part of an over production of the origial contract to the military and was sold off to a police department. Once the police department retired the pistols they were sold off to collectors. It is blued and has all of the military numbers and markings.

    Thanks for any info.

My National Guard Unit was activated in November 2003 for service in Iraq. Because this pistol looked identical to the ones that were issued I was able to take this M9 over with me and it served as my side arm for the entire deployment (March 2004 - March 2005).

And no, I did not use it to kill anyone. I was a machine gunner and it simply served as my back up.

      Thanks for any info.

the original M9s had a flaw where the slide busted off injuring the shooters.... dont know if this makes it more valuble or not...

Thank you for your input. I am looking to sell it and am wondering what it is worth to a buyer.

You may be talking about the 92F. The issue of the slide shooting back into the user was addressed in the 92FS.

The issue with the slide I thought was an ammo issue + slide

I'm not doubting you because I have no reason to as of now but it's very hard to bring a personal weapon on a deployment. That's what was being implied.

ETA: That's what I know now. I wouldn't know about the early OIF years. Rules change...

How about multiple international conventions, arms trade laws, import/export laws, ect...

PS - A new M9 sells for around $600 so probably 500 on worth. Its nothing special

Just to let everyone know, we carried our weapons back with us on the plane. Going over many of us carried 2-3 weapons each. We also brought them back.

Polish Mike, Have you ever been deployed for War? The laws that you talk about does not apply to the military. We were issued our weapons prior to deployment. We all carried 2-3 weapons over with us and we carried them back. Other guys did it as well but with the civilian 92FS.

Geneva/Hague conventions absolutely do apply. Laws absolutely do apply to you. Could you take home your m4? NO. Your M9 was not owned my the military therefore those laws absolutely apply to you.
