    Machine gun loudness

I was just thinking how loud it would be if there was like 3-5 people all firing full auto and you didnt have hearing protection.

    Huh? di'ja 'ay sumtin?

Have you even talked to a war vet before? Could he hear you?

I'm curious to find out what your age is. I can't see anyone over the age of 15 not being logical enough to figure out this answer without having to ask it.

I had two M249 Saw's go off on each side of my head in Iraq. It blew out my eardrums, I still hear significant ringing in both ears 5 years later.

Save the cool factor for videos, protect your hearing (and eyes) because once its gone you don't get it back.

My left ear is gone, thanks to too many machine guns going off too close. Through the VA, YOU pay for my hearing aids. In a few more years, you will get to pay for my right ear

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

Why don't you try and find out for yourself. Report back the findings. So if I boil some water and pour it on my leg will it burn my skin? If I stick my hand in the garbage disposal and turn it on will it chew up my hand? Hmm, kinda a common sense thing right.

As people have said they are loud but when you're focused on something else like your target, listening for orders, etc. you don't really hear it. It kills your hearing but as I said, you won't realize it immediately.

I'm old enough to have known regular shooters who participated in the shooting sports way back when it was common not to wear eyes and ears (most of them are dead now)---they ALL suffered major hearing loss and these were from just shooting much less than the repeated damage you could do with full-auto type guns. These men paid a high price to shoot---you don't have too...
