    Oops 30.06 in a win 300

So my buddy wanted me to try his 300 win mag. After a few shots, pretty cool btw, I wanted to try one more shot. He loaded a single shell for me but it was a 30.06 not a 300 win. Well it fired, thankfully no one was hurt. I didnt notice anything unusual until I racked the bolt open and only half a shell casing came out. That's when the error was discovered. I don't think it hurt his gun but he will need help getting the other half of the shell casing out and recommend he get a gunsmith to check it out. Any thoughts?

We could recommend a gun smith to check it out if you post a location.

I accidentallly sold a box of .308 to a guy who wanted .30-06. It just fire formed the case out. The gun was fine and I gave him the correct box.

If anything the pressure would be relatively low due to the case being blown out to the larger chamber dimensions but get it checked out to be on the safe side.

Bhobbs is right low chamber pressure just have case section removed. Should not need proof test.

Stick a 30 caliber brass brush in the chamber until the bristles go inside the mouth of the case and pull. This will usually pull the broken case out.
