    Barrett M468......

Hello all, I'm new to Calguns.net. I'm looking for some advice or different opinions regarding the Barrett M468. A co-worker has for sale a M468 upper with a Stag Arms lower. He said he bought the rifle new at a gun show. I would like to have the Barrett lower half attached to the upper. The gun has a forward grip, sling, EOTECH scope, X5 10-round magazines and approximately 250 rounds of ammo----all this for $1,000. Is this a good buy? I'm a little hesitant to purchase the rifle only because of the Stag lower. Any constructive advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone in advance.

What you describe would have a retail value of well more than $1000 (probably over $2000) but of course condition is a large factor.

As far as the Stag lower, it is well regarded and I have not had any trouble with mine.

Personally, I would hesitate because it is 6.8, that stuff is expensive and nowhere near as prevalent as 5.56 or 308. That said, I'd definitely buy it for resale. $1000 is a really good price considering the ammo runs about a buck a round, the mags had to cost at least $20, a lightly used EOTECH is worth at least $400 on one of my other rifles... (shall I go on?)

If you don't pull the trigger, can you broker the deal for me?

The Barrett M468 was discontinued a few years back (it was replaced by the REC7) and Barret sold off their stock of uppers separately, which could be the reason why it's on a Stag Arms lower reciever.

The Barrett M468 is a good direct-impingment 6.8x43mm SPC system.
However, keep in mind that it can only use 6.8x43mm SPC ammo and not the newer 6.8x43mm SPC II ammo. The newer ammo is loaded at higher pressures than the older ammo, so if it's chambered for the older ammo, it may not be safe to use the newer ammo, unless you don't care about the possibility that it might kaboom.
