See ya! Please don't compare the city of LA with the rest of California. Gun laws and all, there is no better place to live than NORCAL. I wish you well on your career choice but we all know you will be back. Not sure where "1500 miles" will take you in Texas, but my guess that is in the middle of muggy summers and wet storm filled winters. California, and even LA will not look so bad then.

I'm going to go along with what Joe said, LA has nice beaches and that's about all I can think of that's not negative. Come visit us in NorCal sometime. Our beaches aren't as nice but NorCal has a lot more to offer.

Some good points! I'll concede that LA and California are different - my GF is from Los Altos and I've spent a lot of time there. Very pretty, and the people are friendly.

That said, while I think it's a great place to settle, I'm ready to get moving onto something, somewhere else. But I'm sure it'll draw me back in future years.
