Is it just me or is every other pistol in the WTS section a .40 cal?

It just seems half, if not more, of the pistols are 40 cals. What is going on, are they going to stop making 40 cal rounds? I've never been a fan of that round myself so it's not a big deal to me other then the fact that every I click on a gun that I'm interested it turns out to be a *$&# 40!

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else had noticed this.

It's cyclical. It changes monthly. Sometimes there are almost no .40's up.

They certainly aren't going to stop making it, if anything it is increasing in popularity, and the military is considering switching to it as well.

.40's are a pain to shoot if you don't train or if you are a beginner shooter.

That said, I like my .40 Glocks, but I do notice that Glock 22's are the most commonly listed .40 S&W handguns in the WTS section.

Some people might have too many .40's and need to balance things out.

            I had a Sig p226r in .40 cal great gun. I switched to 9mm G19.

Reason 1. Ammo much cheaper which means more practice.
Reason 2. Cheaper ammo and more practice.
Reason 3. I can get more shots on target faster than with the .40, in fact I can get more .45 acp on target faster than the .40

One last reason is I can get more practice while saving money.

              Interesting thread.

What's the beef with the 40 in that it is harder to get on target than the 9 or 45? Why is that?

If there's any reason to get rid of a 40 it is because the person has a 9 and 45 already. With a 9 and 45 in the stable a 40 doesn't offer any additional benefit.

In my experience. The .40 is snappier. Also, most .45s are fullsize or made of heavier materials lessening recoil. With that said, Im also making switch to 9mm. Mag capacity is more important now, and my pistols are really only backups for if the rifles or shotguns go down.

I sold all my .40 stuff several months ago as I wanted to consolidate calibers.

Got it.. But in some cases like mine, some folks might have wanted to double up their stable.

I want a sub or compact / full size in 9, 40 and 45. For instance, with my Ruger P90 I would like to add the Glock-30. To go with my XD 40 sub, looking to add the H&K USP 40 or Sig 226. And for my Glock-19.... Well I just love that gun and I think it fits both my needs in CCW and shoots like a full size.

                        Just me I suppose.

To me it seems like they are all .45acp. I swear if its a .45 and not a 1911 it won't be sold in the marketplace unless it's literally a ridiculous price.

I had a XD .45 up on there. Went from 450 down to 380.00. Not one freaking taker, and it's a perfectly running gun only a year old with a low round count: I don't seem to be the only one too, I swear the .40 s&w and .45's just sit.

Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.

The .40 does what it was designed to do. It has more power than a 9mm in the same sized gun. In Ca. we can't have more than a 10 round mag and my M&P Compact .40 has 10 round mags. If you wanna hate the .40 that's your choice but it's just plain more powerful than a 9 mm without sacrificing capacity. Niether of my .40's recoil worse than my Commander .45. If you can't handle the .40 then go ahead and shoot a GUURLY 9 mil.
