Under side of rear is not machined back. This portion actually contacts the auto-sear for full auto. Colt started the trend of machining off this portion, so no assembled sear could be tripped. No other differences otherwise.
Legally, no problem with owning and using a FA carrier. Many owners prefer them for the added weight."A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero -
The bottom one is an auto BCG. That little bit of extra metal is the only difference. Perfectly legal to install in a semi-auto rifle, and will function just the same.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

there isnt much of a difference functionally, the extra mass can mean slightly longer lock times and slightly less recoil, but i really thing you need some good instruments to measure this.Comment
