Need info about gun transfers

I will be building my war locker up over the following months/years, and I am not interested in paying 200% MSRP for my firearms. I need info on the entire process of ordering from an out-of-state dealer, all the way to my safe. Any info you guys can offer will be greatly appreciated. I am sure that someone has already asked, and this has been explained already, but I can't find all of the answers I need.

Make sure it's legal in CA, find an FFL of your choice (some can be pricey), purchase firearm, ask your FFL to send the seller a copy of their FFL (fax or mail), the seller will then ship the firearm to your FFL. When it gets there, you do the paperwork, pay your FFL their fees and tax (if applicable), then wait 10 days.

I wouldn't assume your out of state dealer is necessarily better priced than a local gun store. People often make this mistake at my shop, but once they pay the transfer fee and shipping, they usually could have gotten it cheaper from me.

Check around your area and see what people will sell you guns for. If you can find better deals online and have an inexpensive transfer dealer, then do it. Just make sure you shop around and don't assume.
