I think it has to be 50yrs and older . For ftf sale . And must not be on the banned list . Like a old orignal Ak(illegal). But a Mosin, Mauser , are ok . What kind of rifle are you selling that would help alot. A tranfer isnt bad at your local gunstore the person receiving it can pay for that.

msand951 is correct - if the rifle was manufactured before 1961, that is, if it is 50 years old or older, then no FFL is needed.

Doesn't apply to handguns, and doesn't apply to newer long guns; those need the FFL.
