Here's a link to the Jan. Gunsandammo article.

      http://http://www.gunsandammomag.com/ga_handguns/ga_rugersr9_0801/index.html

According to Turners, this firearm is a NO GO in California. Something about the
The magazine disconnector/safety is activated by one of the magazine feed lips. When the magazine is out, it blocks the striker. When it is in, the striker has clearance.
So, It is illegal for purchase because the firearm will not go "bang" when the magwell is empty? Sounds to me like an added safety feature? Oh, that's right, California doesn't want to encourage the proliferation of gun owners by allowing safer guns in their homes! I think I need a second opinion from anyone more familiar with the CADOJ. Any input?

Ya know I look forward to another reliable firearm from Ruger that goes bang everytime.

I am not looking forward to that well known Ruger accuracy found in there medium calber pistols and Ruger mini's/30's.

I never understood this since they did make reliable AND accurate 22's.

My Sig Mosquito has a magazine disconnect on it. The presence of the mag disconnect can't be the reason. I was in Discount Gun mart the other day and was told that unless new handguns have a loaded chamber indicator that protrudes out, they can't be entered onto the 'safe' handgun list. If that's true, that could be the reason.

mag disconnect is a pre req for the safe list as far as I know as of now. also, the P345, MKIII and the new SR9 all have mag disconnect. All I know is if I go back to Illinois before they come out in Cali, I am buying one, and maybe two if there is a demand for them here.

I like the direction they are going in, but I'm not going to get too excited about a full size gun that we have to have with 10 round mags.

yeah, but that is not rugers fault, it is kalifornia's. At least they are making 10 round mags and didnt just say screw it.

I dont have the GandA article in front of me but i believe it mentioned that the disconnect is removalble with minimal effort. Anyone else read that? I owned a P95DC and there was no disconnect in it as I recall.
