nevada show was jan 21st....i was in vegas that weekend for a friends 21st but i took a plane, so i couldnt go and bring anything back..

If there was EVER gonna be a road check @ the boarder this would be the time. You freedom aint worth the price of a couple things you cant have here.......................

I've never been to an out of state gun show yet. Do they really check id's and wont sell stuff to california residents?

Been a while since I went to one, but yes and no....depends on the vendor... for Guns through a VENDOR~ yes. Private party...not usually but then again IF you go that route you could/would be breaking some Fed and Cali laws.........

Parts? Yes...just be careful which ones (Keep Cali laws in mind even though you're outta state & feeling like a kid in a BIGGGGGG Candy store). Mags? TEN ROUNDERS yes, but you're on your own if you step past the magic number 10.........

Huh!? What am I supposed to be *thinking*?? (Do they have grenade launchers, C4s, etc @ Shows!?!?)

I am just too disappointed @ CA's gun show having NOTHING to see... and I heard that Gun Shows elsewhere have tons of Black Rifle stuffs.... I just want to check out all the different stuffs for AR15s.... various handguard, pistol grip, front grip, buttstock, etc.... I have seen a lot online, but I haven't got much of a chance to check them out in my hands... sometimes just research is not good enough.... and I think just to see all the different configuration in real life would be a big PLUS too.... or to hold a fully loaded rifle(with all the accessories), and just to see how *heavy* can it goes... almost NO ONE here in CA stock AR stuffs.... so I want to go to an Out-of-State Gun Show.....

As far as magazines go.... I really don't need ANY more, I have had more than enough..... I bought them back before the ban.... just that back then, I really don't have the money to buy any rifles....*sigh*.... I should have..... now I need them to BAN my lower, so that I can use them!!

A buddy of mine did buy a rifle and registered it back then... yet, he never really get to do ANYTHING with it... and amazingly, that rifle is still *virgin*!!! (never fired.....)...

Checkpoint? Tinfoil hats way too tight. Magazines are nothing compared to the illegal fireworks coming across. Besides they can't prove you didn't take the mags to Nevada to go shooting.

There isn't going to be a "check at the border". That's tin-foil hat nonsense.

Even if there was, all they could do is ask... "Do you have any illegal high-capacity magazines or banned weapons in your car?" You say no, and drive away. The fruit-and-nut stations are rarely manned, and when they are, it's the same thing... "Do you have any fruits and vegetables in your car?" No, and hit the gas.

You might just be right and I pray that I'm wrong. Tin foil hats aside~ getting PULLED OVER and not keeping it cool might just lead to a proabable cause search..... THAT I know is a BIG BIG "what if" sceanrio too....... But anyone here recall the BATF's "sting" of the Gunkeep in Idaho? He was busted IN NEVADA..AT THE SHOW...

Yea, the DOJ and BATF both have better things to do, like sit on thier thumbs & giggle but that investigation was like a year long ON ONE GUY. Tied him up in the courts for a long while and never did get back his guns from what I understand.

Could/Would the DOJ be at the reno show? I wouldnt put it past them to send a dude or two up there to take a licence plate tag or two down. Its the field agents job to COLLECT data, not intrepret it; its the clowns back in town that do that mess~ and they oft times get it wrong. I doubt being at the Reno show is probable cause to search your house; but hey in this day & age of radios--- HOW HARD is it for a guy to sit in the lot, see how many people walk to thier cars with armfuls of crap, see they have a Cali licence, radio it ahead and stop you at the border????? THATS not tinfoil...that's simple surveillance and followup.

Hey, All speculation is nice (even the tinfoil hat stuff) but the moment anybody her really starts planning one of these lil' capers to there to do something illegal COUNT ME OUT. I value my freedom and will not jeapordize it over a couple of mags..........

Fighting these stupid laws BY BREAKING them does none of us any favors. We gotta win this fair and square- in the ballots and the courts, I'd rather be in court arguing the UNcontitionality of a Cali law then in court on a stupid charge of illegal mag possesion (Which WOULD most likely lead to a search warrent of your house BTW....)

Heck, I'll even send ya' a pic or two of me at the range while you do your time...maybe it'll impress either your roomie or keep you from being somebody's toy while there Just PLEASE do us all the favor of NOT claiming to be a uprightous & upstanding citizen while speculating on how to circumvent the law~ that's not representative of the Gun owners and Freedom lovers I wanna stand with......

i'll be looking out for cool uppers and cheap optics.

I was under the impression that it was permissable to take hi-caps out of state and bring them back as long as the hi-caps were in possession before the 2000 ban? Is this not correct?
