    Manufacturer Customer Service

I've read about mixed experiences with customer service from gun manufacturers. Most of the stories were negative so I wanted to share two positive ones.

Last year my Les Baer Premier II would not lock the slide back when I was shooting and my Les Baer mags ran dry. I left a message with customer support and was surprised when I got an unknown call a few days later and the caller said, "Hi! This is Les." My issue was solved with 3 new LB mags shipped to me for free.

Last month my Sig P220 would randomly not return to battery when chambering rounds. I called Sig and sent my gun in for some recommended work. I got it back sooner than promised and the gun has been functioning flawlessly. This cost me a few bucks but it was worth it (especially because I sent in the gun with a new pair of nightsights and Sig installed them for free.)

These were just my personal experiences. I hope everyone else's contact with gun builders went as well as mine.

I took an H&R shotgun with a broken firing pin that had bought used and thought was past warranty to their warranty service center (which also happens to be J&G in Granite Bay). They fixed it free!

It did cost me $200, though, as I saw an Auto-5 I liked and bought it. Oops.

Ruger has always been good to me over the years. I took the trigger group apart on a Mini 14 once and thinking it was just like an M1 trigger I figured I'd have no problems putting it back together. It wouldn't go back together. I called them and they told me to send it to them. I did, got it back reassembled, cleaned and with a crisper trigger pull, no charge. I bought a used Old Army that had pitted chambers. Called them to buy a replacement cylinder. They told me to send the revolver to them. The fitted a new cylinder, new nipples, cleaned it up and sent it back for free. I only paid shipping. SA Inc has also been good. My SAR 48 broke the firing pin, they sent me a new one for free. The oprod on my M1A came apart. I sent them the broken one, I got a free replacement back. The worst customer service was from Para Ordnance. Slow, expensive, and the gun still didn't function correctly when I got it back and they sent along a snarky note about changing out the recoil spring on a regular basis. Way to inspire repeat customers!
