    LOOK what Grandpa gave me!

It's just a Rohm Gmrh Sontheim/Brenz cal.22 lr, but cool none the less, it may not even shoot for all i know, and the safari land holster is pretty bad ***** too! he says he's got a .38 special lyin' around for me but he cant seem to remember where he put it. Grandpa doesn't have much time left so he wanted to hand these down to me before his time comes. i would like to have the barrel re-finished on the .38 assuming its in similar condition, then have "GRANDDAD" engraved down the barrel. but if he doesn't find the .38 then i'll do it to this and put it up in a display case. he said he bought this gun in 1972.

That's awesome! Also, sorry to hear your granddad doesn't have a lot of time left. Cherish what you have and make as many memories as possible.

I lost my Father last year. He was 90 years young. He also started to give me firearms as he got closer to going home. First was a Enfield 303 that he bought when I was 12. Then it was a Baby Browning I had given to him back in the 70's. See you Grandfather as much as you can young man, cause it hurts when they go home. Thanks for the memories.

I don't know why you'd refinish it. It just means your grandfather used it, which means you should also take it to the range and think of your grandfather at the same time when you do.

That is really cool, my grandfather gave me a Winchester lever action 30/30 before he passed away. It is one of my favorite guns and since I shot SASS I use it a lot.

                  What a beauty!

I agree with those suggesting that you leave the revolver as-is --it already has "GRANDDAD" written all over it.

I really really wish I could, we never even knew he owned any firearms, there's no way he could go shooting now. Kinda bummed we never had the chance to shoot together, but I think some of you are right, I think I will leave it as is and take it shooting next time I go the range, thanks guys.

Nice, but please have an experienced gunsmith give that Rohm a once over before you shoot it.

Rohm of Germany was not known for quality handguns. They folded sometime in the 1970's.

I would not re-blue but keep it the way it is. It will be worth more than you ever know.

Nice. I would leave it as is. Of the dozens of guns and god knows how many tens of thousands of dollars worth of arms I own...the last one I would ever part with is a beat to hell 1917 colt revolver grandpa carried in Korea.
