God that commercial really pisses me off, I am going to smoke a cigarette and admire my firearms.

after all, any group who "speaks out" against smoking earns some brownie points from the public nowadays...

think about it. how much could people really hate the gun community if we do "good" things like anti-smoking ads, breast cancer fundraisers, and such?

I think ou may be missing the point. They are not speaking against Guns- they are speaking againt the big company that lies to the public and refuses to accept responsibiity and accountabliity for the dangers of their product- not when it is being misused, but when used as directed.

They could do the same thing with car makers- pr Fast food (wait they dalready id that)

If you notice a few seconds in the banner on the far wall says, "CLOCK", in the same style GLOCK uses for their banners. Thought that was funny.

There really are no "light" or "ultralight" bullets, they're all capable of killing you with proper shot placement

I hate these videos because I don't need some pseudo intellectual snot nose kids telling me what is good for me. How about they put their efforts into worrying about themselves. I don't smoke and don't care to but these commercials make me want to start.

Guys, these commercials are mostly on MTV, and marketed towards kids and teenagers. And we all know what kinds of decisions we made at that age.

Hey, the liberals want to go on a crusade and it isn't about taking guns away, then so be it.

I'm not a smoker, but do smoke once in a while. Most long time smokers I know wish they hadn't ever started. Thatz got to mean something.

But after viewing the ad, seems like they took some of the evil stigma away from guns.

I like these commercials.

They are aimed at folks who are not yet smokers, giving them good reasons not to start. Those of you who are saying "give it a rest, already" Go take a good long look into the angelic face of your 5 year old son/daughter/niece/nephew/grandbaby and see if that doesn't make you reconsider. Do you want them to start? Is that your ambition in life for them? To spend a WHOLE bunch of money over the course of their (shorter) lives, making a bunch of guys rich who do not care that their customers are dying on them?

This is INFORMATION, not LEGISLATION. Preventing folks from becomming addicted to toxic, carcinogenic products before they're capable of understanding what they are trading off for whatever it is they get from cigarette smoking is a good investment in the future of our young people.

My father smoked all his life. He tried to quit several times. He told me, "Don't ever start, 'cause it's too hard to stop". He died of heart problems at the age of 67 after spending the last decade of his life in declining health. He smoked right up to the day he went into the hospital for that last time.

I suppose that was my own real-life version of these ads, and it worked because I have never started and have no ambition to.

i honestly don't really mind the commercials. Like bruss said, this is information not legislation...

If some group of people wants to run a campaign to convince me to CHOOSE not to smoke, that's cool as far as i'm concerned. That's the american way...

but once they start trying to FORCE me to do something, they can go to hell...





of course, here's something just to screw with your head: let's say we manage to get people to stop smoking (either by choice or by force). That means these people are going to live longer, right? So a bunch of people who would have died before being able to claim social security benefits are now going to live long enough to collect them, right? Wouldn't that raise heath care and SS costs for EVERYONE?

No, a tremendous amount of money is spent on attending the effects of smoking. Emphysema, asthma, lung cancer are all possible effects from smoking. The cost of caring for and treating a patient in the hospital suffering from cancer is unbelievable. Health care costs will go down if people didn't smoke as much.

However, these commercials bug me...we all know smoking isn't good for you; if ppl still want to smoke, so be it. Stop bugging them about it.

I have to disagree on numerious levels. Having some nerdy looking dude tell me smoking is going to kill me. If I was 14 I would say, "I sure as hell don't want to be like him - I want non-filters just in case"

If they had beautiful models saying "Pretty girls don't like guys who smoke" that would work a lot better.

Second they are relating death to death. I am a smoker. It is a dirty habit often looked down upon. I am trying to quit. Now they are relating this dirty habit that is a KNOWN killer to firearms that can be used for many other purposes just then shooting. Notice how at the end of the commercial the guy holding the pistol gripped shotgun with the head shield. That does not look much like a sporting long gun to me.

And also notice how the entire commercial was relating cigarettes killing people to guns killing people.

Not good PR for us and the "Truth" camping sucks, really bad. SMOKING IS BAD FOR YOU. WE ALL KNOW. NOT A SECRET. IT SAYS IT ON THE SIDE OF MY PACK.

The truth is out there.
