Is the .460 Steyr CA legal?

Seems like it would be a hoot to shoot. If so, which rifles are availale to purchase here for shooting and how much do they run?

(Why does anyone even have to issue this reminder?)

Not familiar with the cartridge, but the only small arms cartridge specifically banned in CA is the .50 BMG.

The cartridge itself (.50 BMG) is not banned.

RIFLES chambered in .50BMG are banned. NOT the cartridge. Not handguns chambered in .50BMG, nor non-rifles in .50BMG.

            Only Rifles.

.460 Steyr is a .50 BMG necked down to .458 caliber.

Ok, so technically it would be legal. Now, is it available for purchase? I've heard ammo is hard to find. What say you?

I have no idea. I have never looked into buying one, I have just read about it.

Hokey Smokes! Here's a site that sells .460 Steyr.

                    Not for my economic circumstances...

Wow! That's brutal. Makes 50 BMG look cheap.

I saw it on another website where it was $19.95 a round.

Christ, talk about making it into a safe queen. With ammo prices like that, it would surely put yours truly in the poor house.

But thanks for the ideas, guys.
