Finally made it to a free state...phew

moved to Idaho last wednesday. Yesterday, I went to the courthouse where they have the DMV and Sheriffs office all in one building. I got my drivers license without waiting in line (blew my mind) , applied for my CCW (all it takes is $36 and some fingerprints), got my $12.75 hunting license and all my stamps (much cheaper than CA). Also registered my vehicles for about $30/piece.....man it feels good to get out of California.

Best part is that all I need is my drivers license, money, and 10 minutes to buy a gun. i need to go shopping.

thought i would share just in case anyone else was looking to escape to freedom....

I get up to Rathdrum every couple of years, I love it up there. We've got friends in the north and Boise that we visit. My wife interviewed in Caldwell but the position was in Idaho Falls for far less money. It's great country. Hope you never come back. PAX

I wish they loosened up the gun laws in california, just the laws that don't make sense. CCW, and 10 waiting period. your allowed to open carry but you cannon conceal carry unless you have ccw, They say it's a mayissue, but you have to be a politician to get a ccw. After the first gun the 10 day waiting period should be waved.

Lucky man. Way to rub it in our faces.

I can't wait to make the move to either Texas or Arizona in a few years.

My Mom lives in Idaho, nice country.

I had to register my Chevelle there before the 1970s were smog exempt. (around 94)
I walked in,paid fees and the lady opened a homemade plywood box and handed me the license plates. I don't think it took 15min.

Very nice! Looking forward to moving to CO on Tuesday. It may not be quite as easy in all the areas you mentioned as Idaho, but I know it is a lot easier in all areas than here. But, I enjoyed CA for 35 years, just time to move on.

I like seeing the Warthog / Thunderbolts sitting at the Boise airport, makes you feel like the city is well defended.
