    Trying to convert the masses

So my GF and I decided that her little sister should have some exposure to firearms, even though her parents probably wouldn't approve. We drove over to a local shooting range in San Jose, only to be rejected because her little sister is 16 and didn't have a parental release (they were over two hours away). Oh well, so much for that idea. Back when I was 8, my uncle took me to a range to introduce me to guns, and a supervising adult was sufficient at the time.

Not to be deterred, we'll probably grab her and her college dorm-mate on our way up to some Nevada BLM land.

thats BS, if a supervising adult gives permission that should be sufficient to cover the insurance side of things

Thumbs up for being willing to take her shooting. Most people would do about anything to avoid a 16 year old. If she's eager and willing that's so much better. I'm also a bit bewildered by the fact that being with adults wasn't enough for her to shoot.

( More than 2 posts in a thread with discussion of a gf and her sister and nobody has posted a picture request yet. Is it too early for them to be awake?)
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

Skipped two grades and now attending Berkeley. She's a smart cookie. I thought it would be fun to get her some exposure to firearms and dispel any fears that she may have. Plus, it'll give her a one-up on all the boys who only play Call of Duty.

Bacon lover, good job. Also the range you went is TOtAL BS. I took my friends little brother and neigbors son to the range with me. It's never to early to teach gun safety.

I've been taking my teenage nephew to a local indoor range for several years now and no one's hassled us. Weird. I have some stupid inlaws that don't approve but that didn't stop us last time and it won't stop us the next.

Sounds like a range policy and one I can certainly understand from a liability perspective.

Absolutely - and btw to the OP: it's not a good thing to be subversive to a parent's will when it comes to their minor aged children. Have respect for that even if you disagree with their opinions. While I commend the idea and understand the motivation, get her parent's approval. Acting with Honor and Integrity makes for a good person and respected gun owner. You are dating another one of their daughters, yes?

I won't go into the family details, but let me say that one parent is okay with it and trusts me when it comes to gun safety.
