Anyone have any thoughts, experience or reviews of the Beauwolf 50 AR platform?

What do you plan to use it for?

Ammo is expensive, you will want to reload and you have few bullet options.

    [edit]

Looking at the ballistics, past 100 yards, a .308 will start to have more energy. At the muzzle, a 400gr bullet is 3100 ft/lb, impressive!

I want one. Been wanting one since AA started selling the things. I'm trying reeeeaaaaal hard to justify the purchase though.. hog hunting in Sonoma maybe?

One thing I'm going to be picky about is the brake. Apparently they're not all equally efficient at taming the recoil from the beast.

Very cool guns. I always say If your limited to ten rounds then make them the biggest ten rounds you can find.

I had one but sold it a while back. I didn't really like how the rounds tended to make the feedlips in the mag flex, and if shaken, sometimes the rounds could actually get forced through. STANAG mags were definitely the weakest link for the .50 Beo platform.

If you want to shoot through engine blocks short distance, go for it. It does tend to punish the shoulder after a bunch of rounds, especially with an A-2 stock (your shoulder will look like its been whacked with a meat tenderizer), but they are fun.

It's spelled "Beowulf" by the way. Named after the ancient hero.

Much better range out of the .338 or .308 than the .50 Beowolf

It's a real fun sledgehammer kinda thing. It will destroy anything you shoot with it. Recoil, whats that?...

Good to about 200 yards. Great for hunting in heavy brush. Recoil is an individual thing. I shot one (about 10 shots) and didn't think recoil was bad at all. Sort of like a 12 ga. shotgun.

                          you're going to love it

Lots of fun to shoot. Hits like a truck. Hopefully you reload or the bullets run into some bucks. 200 yards is about max distance for it.
With 300 grain recoil isnt bad. 400 grain you know you're shooting a real mans gun. You can get a stiffer recoil spring, it helps. When I started shooting the 50 with 400g I used a shoulder pad, used to it now. Unless, my shoulder nerves just died...
Haven't shot heavier bullets, I'm sure recoil will never match my 458 lott though.
Someone here mentioned probs with magazine feeding, I had a problem at first. I corrected it (eventually) by tweeking the lips of the mag a fraction of an inch. No probs since.

I like the idea of it and the punch it would have, but it seems like a very expensive platform to shoot.

For me it's not that expensive to shoot. I can only do about two dozen rounds before the recoil gets to me. Whereas I can shoot 5.56 or x39 all day an run up quite a reloading bill. So if you think about it that way it's actually cheeper to shoot.
