What an idiot. Why the hell would anyone give a first time shooter a friggin' 12 gauge with a pistol grip? Next time she says she's "afraid of guns" she'll have a good reason.

I got my friend to shoot my double barrel'd shotgun, both barrels... I've done it before... but I like recoil... him... not so much

Common mistake made by a bunch of guys nowadays it seems like. Everyone Ive started out with guns got to use the .22 first. They learned the basics of marksmanship then moved up in caliber as they felt more comfortable with it. Real friendly way to turn someone onto shooting.
Winner of this brain trust was the dude (about 2 yrs ago, IIRC) that was running hot loads in his Ruger Super Redhawk 454.
Hands SRH over to his 10? yr old kid, and after he fire it, the recoil (combined with lack of support) brings the hammer of the gun back to kid's forehead with such impact a hematoma formed and kid died a day or two later.
Obviously, this happened in Texas. (I'm sure all the thumper Baptists gathered round at funeral and intoned, "It's God's will.")
People need to friggin' think.
