Special Ops, Pig Patrol: Commando Wannabes Stalk Porky

Could this be done in California?

It's my understanding that "silencers" and night vision scopes are a no go in California.

    It does look like fun!

Every state is different, espically how they classify an invasive species and varmants and what they allow as "legal hunting method" for them.

I know in MO and IN, a deprevation deer hunt - most of the rules are out the window as far as weapons, time of day and type of deer. The safety rules are still in effect (no shooting across roads, within 100 yds of a dwelling and such).

It would appear (IMHO) that the CA restrictions on night vision hunting is purely a safety issue - to keep the stuupid city dwellers from shooting anyting that moves in the dark.

The Texas pig hunt DOES sound like a heck of a lot of fun though! Just might have to plan a trip to Texas to partake in that kind of hunting.

I was just at a hunting expo at Reliant here in Houston, and those guys had a booth set up with their firearms of choice on display. The one I think would be fun would be the Pork Choppers.. the ones who hunt them from helicopters.

LOL, anyone read the quote from Ted Nugent in the article?

I read the comments and I gotta say, thats some of the most insane, idiotic and asinine drivel Ive read in a long time. That, my friends, is why I dislike liberals.

night vision is legal in ca. The law is old and would not effect night vision that doesn't "shoot" infrared out or use an infra red laser. From what I gathered.

If pigs don't want to be killed, they shouldn't taste like bacon.

That isn't exactly correct. Most of the modern NV scopes have an IR lamp on them. You can't have that lamp attached to the rifle/scope. And there are some other restrictions. IIRC, there are ways around it if you use a non-magnifying NV device, but it has been a while since we beat that particular dead horse on here.

As for hunting pigs in Texas, if you can legally own something there, you can use it on hogs. They want as many dead as soon as possible. If you can get the permits for hand grenades, flame throwers or bazookas, you can use them on hogs. The last time I talked to one of their game wardens, he was telling me about some guys setting up a feeder and a machinegun.

Legal, illegal... doesnt matter, cant hunt with it anyways.

Before you attempt to argue that point, read the regs.

Very true, I should have been more clear in my answer. They are illegal to use on game animals.
