First time shot P-35

I finally got to shoot my FN P-35 that I acquired around the first of the year. Cosmetically, nothing to look at and well used. It's a 1983 year model with a history and the plating is worn, and absent in patches. The parts that count work flawlessly though. As a matter of fact, for first time shooting it groups like my G22 and a heck of lot better than my G35. (For some reason I have trouble with the G35 shooting center far left).

My only complaint with the FN is my old hands have a lot of loose flesh in the web area, and my hand rides up the smooth back strap. That skin gets smashed between the base of the hammer and the short beaver tail. The hammer spur doesn't get me though--yet. So next range outing the G35 stays at home and the G22, the FN and a handful of Bandaids will be in the goodie bag.

Funny, the first time I pulled the trigger, I thought I had the safety on. A tad different than the Glocks. Not good or bad, just different.

Yeah, I just need to keep the web part of my hand away from the base of the hammer. Makes for healthy blood blisters if I don't. I'll figure out something.

Change the hammer to a round hammer rather than the spur hammer. The round hammer will be a bit shorter and not cause that, however the shorter hammer will make it a bit harder to cock since there is less leverage.

Actually Sailormilan2, the spur does not get me, it's where the base of the hammer meets the beaver tail. Since I'm a "form follows function" sort of guy, just extending the beaver tail a tad with something will keep the meaty part of my web from creeping up to get smacked between the hammer base and tail. Thanks for the suggestion, I may try that too.

Hey, Deez, that looks interesting. It would certainly keep the skin from sliding up and getting pinched between the beaver tail and hammer base.
