    Shipping cost?

Probably in the wrong section, but can anyone make an approximate shipping cost of a rifle to the Bay Area? I've been offered the same rifle from two vendors. One gives a straight price with free shipping and the other is $80 less but idk how much shipping would be...

It depends. If it's a bigger shop with more sales, they will most likely have volume discount with UPS or FedEx. Without padding the shipping costs, it should be around $15-$25 across the US. If it's a smaller shop without shipping discount, the actual cost should be ~25% more.

It is usually stated on their website if they have one. Where is the vendor located or who is the vendor?

FedEx just charged me $80 to ship my handgun. I couldn't believe it was that much. Next time I sell locally.

There's no way to know. You have to ask the seller exactly how much shipping will be. UPS and FedEx both charge based on weight and distance. So shipping to the bay area from Sacramento will be less than shipping to the bay area from Ohio. Some vendors pad the shipping charges pretty heavily. I've had to pay anywhere from $10 to $35 to get a rifle shipped from the east coast.

It was that much because you had to ship overnight. An FFL can ship priority for a lot less then overnight.

+1, handguns ship overnight, long guns don't, check with your FFL, they might be able to get better pricing

If you have a FFL and shipping to a FFL USPS is cheep $5.00. They will not ship for any one else. FEDEX cost is around $25.00 from FFL to non FFL. If you just shipping parts of firearm USPS will ship parts only for about $5.00
