Whats a good Tactical Light for a Glock?

I found this one on Amazon, what do you think?

A friend said for security he feels a hand gun and light is better than shotgun. So I'm looking for a good light.

    Thanks

I understand just because something's expensive doesn't mean it's always good. But.. I've found cheap lights are problematic at a higher rate than the more expensive lights. Not to say the one you get won't be fine.

My advice is to spend a little more for a proven quality light with proven customer service.

You are going to use this light in a life or death situation. Whatever you decide take the light to the range and put a hundred or so rounds through it with the light on. If it's still working after that you are probably ok.

I was issued a glock light when they first came out. Luckily we trained on using them and found out they didn't like to stay on after the first round. A piece of business card between the battery and the cover and it was fixed for good. Whatever you do go shoot it to see if it works.

If you can wait, save more cash and maybe get a Streamlight TRL-S for like $100, nothing really wrong with your pick, for the price its not that bad. My personal experience was roughly after 300rds it started to fall apart, funny enough it was mounted on my Glock 23. Check Big5 for sales that's where I got mine for under $30. Good luck!

pretty much anything that says streamlight or surefire is gonna be a good light, personally I prefer a hand held light as opposed to weapon mounted, but for 2 reasons in order of importance...

        1. I don't want to muzzle sweep everything I point a light at, I would much rather "slice" the light in the room to get a feel for everything in the room depending on what I'm doing

        2. 1911's are my home defense pistols, I don't run 1911's with a rail, and I'm not sticking a rail on any of them, I may get one with a rail one day, but I'm far from that day

+1 to those. Buy once, cry once.

Cheap lights cost more because you keep needing to replace them when they stop working.

TLR-1 has worked great for me ... my buddy just bought me another one for my birthday since the one I had didn't have the strobe feature...

As stated above.....Streamlight or Surefire. Expensive but it will last a lifetime.

Save your money and get a good light that doesn't cost too much, like the 160 lumen TLR-1s for $99.

I've had and used (from friends) those china-made Ebay lights, either NcStar brand or no-name brands. The LED is somewhat bright for the most part, but are probably around the 80~110 lumen range. Good enough for in the house use. But I've also seen a few of them fail after shooting with them on the gun right away.

I'm not saying to get a TLR-1s, but compared to what you selected here are the main differences.... 1) much brighter, 2) easier controls to activate the light, 3) comes with strobe feature, 4) proven to handle recoil on most weapons, including pistols & long guns.

My HD G17 wears a Sig STL-900L light/laser combo. Blindingly bright LED with strobe function and the laser is spot on at 10 yds. The battery has lasted over 6 months so far. Got it for under $100 used. No complaints so far. I'd get another.

For versatility I went with a Safariland RLS mount (can be used with any light with a body diameter of 1")

I put a Streamlight Polytac LED light in the mount

And now I have a weapon light that can still be used as a normal hand held.

TLR-1 is spring-loaded and pops right off as well. Your solutions looks a little, uh, unwieldy? (But whatever works for you!)

I highly recommend the TLR-1, I have a few and love them!
