Most here are pretty honest. I recently bought a firearm from a member who lied about it, nothing big, but I wouldn't have paid as much as I did if I had known. He had good itrader and is active, but I gave him itader before the 10 days was up, lesson learned.

I think the most important thing is don't trust that just because someone has good itrader feedback that he or she isnt going to screw you over you still have to be a smart buyer and if it seems a bit fishy then maybe there is something wrong

^^^^this..... Use pp discreetly or cash ftf instead and like what others has posted: join date, itrader rating and post count.

I'm not sure if this is proper forum or not but: Are there any safguards to making sure the itrader ratings are genuine? Whats to stop someone from using multiple logins or having a buddy post fake feedback to boost their trades? I am, maybe incorrectly, putting alot of stock into those ratings when I'm looking at dealing with someone. It seems like members with less than perfect ratings sometimes get shut out when they post or at least thats how it seems to me.

I seriously doubt that type of activity happens much around here.

Someone would have to create a series of fake ads with photos and have another person respond, buy the fake item and post a fake iTrader rating.

Doing several of these would be hard. Once they screwed somebody over and got a single negative rating the game would end. Not worth it really.

I have had nothing but good buying and selling via the Marketplace. Very nice people, honest and friendly.

Ooops, I only use USPS MO when doing non-ftf transactions. I guess I am a scammer?

Examine the item, buying sight unseen is a risky proposition no matter who the seller is.

My rule of thumb is to only buy items from a reputable seller or FTF. If he has zero feedback and lets just say 7 posts total(all from that ad) I wouldn't even bother. Normally, the higher the itrader rating the greater chance he is a reputable seller. So if he only has 20 posts(all from that ad) but has sold 5 of said item then thats reputable enough for me IMHO.
