Finally going to do it!!!!

So I finally ordered an AR lower, LPK and Magpul furniture to start on my very first AR build! Ordered all the goodies from Palmetto State Armory. Now I just gotta endure the long agonizing wait for them to arrive at the FFL, and then for the paperwork to get back.
I'm hoping to come up with the money for the upper by the end of this month. Crossing my fingers!

Very nice! I did the same thing not so long ago, was gonna spread my build out over a couple months, but instead I got a little crazy after buying my lower and basically bought everything for it while I waited my 10 days pretty much built the whole rifle shortly after I picked up the lower...

Russian: I know that is what I am going end up doing! I am already trying to figure out how to come up with the money for the upper and rear BUIS. I have $400 already put aside for the upper, and I can swing fifty or so more dollars for tax and shipping costs...... and PSA has a complete upper for $399...... but I really want to get their stainless steel upper. But it is 1:8" and I would like 1:7". So it begins!!!
ZNinerFan: oh my BRD has been in full out outbreak for ages! I just haven't really had the time to start a build. And unfortunately, or fortunately, this is going to be my only AR build for awhile. I have a house to buy and a wedding to plan and pay for.

I've been to busy to even shoot my first build (which was a PSA heavy build with the hammer forged upper and their lower parts kit). I can't stop thinking about the next build! I'm telling myself I need to get a reserve of 5k in ammo first before I buy anymore parts.

You guys are right! I have been mulling over a stainless steel barrel or an m4 barrel..... then I found an easy solution, buy both uppers and another lower! Yup, its all down hill from here on out....

If by M4 you mean carbine, don't do it. Get a mid-length, you'll be much happier.

Now you're getting it. Don't buy another lower though. Buy 3. Build two rifles and keep the spares for future builds

Locosway: after doing some more reading and research, I did decide to go with the carbine upper. I want something I can use for moderately long range shooting and close quarters. And the carbine fits the bill. I am going to order it with a 1:7" twist, good decision or not? I like to shoot long range so I want something that will give me some of that ability, and will be fairly accurate. Any and all input will be gladly accepted and helpful!

Joe: this is exactly what I am going to do next month! LOL. Yup, my pocketbook is going to be a lot lighter for sometime....

Carbine and mid-length refer to the gas system. Barrel length, which is what you're likely speaking about, is something different. So you can have a 16" barrel with a mid-length or carbine gas system. Carbine gas systems often suffer from timing issues and being over gassed. Not to mention the handguard is freakishly small. A mid-length gas system is better.

What are some opinions on it? Will I be able to take some fairly long shots with it?

Stainless with target crown barrel should be pretty accurate, very nice upper tho.And looks sweet with the MOE.

Yup, the MOE handguns do look nice on it. That's how I am going to order it also. The only down side is I ordered the lower with the flat dark earth stock and pistol grip.... and you can only order the upper with the black MOE hand guards.
