I sent my beat-up Old Army revolver to Ruger for service. It got there (NH) Monday. I got it back Thursday....obviously extremely good customer support. Oh, and no charge for the parts and labor. That's why I own a dozen Ruger firearms.

+1 to this.
I had a problem with my P95 a while ago. They didn't even question me, I told them the problem and they paid for shipping (both ways) and fixed it for free. The whole process took about a week in total, and haven't had even a hiccup ever since. A+ customer service! -
I have found Ruger's customer service to be meh.
I had some work planned for my Mk3 and called Ruger to get some help on how to replace the barrel on it. The person I talked to, while polite and friendly, knew less about the firearm than I did! He basically said that the barrels on Mk3s were not replaceable and welded on. I asked him how custom shops like Volquartsen and Tactical Solutions are able to remove barrels and put new ones in. The response was that he didn't know, but the barrel was definitely not replaceable. I asked if they could replace the barrel if I sent the firearm in. The response was yes. I asked how they do that, and was given the reply that he didn't know.
I then informed him that I wanted to swap the 5.5" bull barrel for a 6.875" fluted barrel, and was told that they couldn't do that, and could only replace the 5.5" barrel with another 5.5" barrel. I asked if I could buy just a 6.875" barrel (I figured that with a bare barrel in hand I could figure out how everything goes together) he said no, the barrels aren't replaceable.
Got frustrated, hung up, called Volquartsen, ten minutes later I has a 6.875" stock Ruger fluted bull barrel shipped to me and a good enough idea of how to replace it that I felt confident enough to try it.
Like I said, nice enough guys at Ruger, and they do make some damn fine firearms, but if you are working as a customer service rep at a firearms company, know your product.sigpicComment

Sounds like you got the one Rookie who refused to admit he was a Rookie.
I would have called back another time hoping to get a different employee. You already knew what you should expect. After you got the good info, you might suggest the previous employee gave you bad info and they might want to re-train him.
I have owned about a dozen Rugers over the years and have yet to call for customer service.
I owned one Taurus Revolver and found out real quick what to expect. The Taurus is gone, the Rugers are still in the safe.

My first gun was a 10/22, I bought it for the reason that if anything were to happen to my rifle, I knew I would be taken care of. Even though on paper, Ruger does not offer a warranty, but from the research I've done, they've not only provided free service/shipping, sometimes they go above and beyond to take care of you.Comment

I hate ruger semi autos but I OWN three 10/22s, five Number 1s, a LCP, 22/45, Alaskan 454, and a LCR. I had a few issues with the LCP and the 10/22 ruger fixed them without a hitch and in a timely manner. Best customer service, Outside of Les Baer.NRA member

Well that's asking a lot of some one hired to answer a phone and have a basic understanding of their firearms. Volquartsen And Tac Sol both offer barreled receivers of their own making, as far as I have seen they do not offer just a barrel for a Ruger semi auto 22. Have you got your new barrel yet? If so did you get the old one out of the receiver? Correct me if I'm wrong but believe the receiver is heated and then the barrel is inserted once cooled the are very hard to separate.I have found Ruger's customer service to be meh.

Good luck! I'm very interested in hearing how it goes. Maybe the service rep was not so ignorant after all.Comment
