Looking for a gunshop in the East Bay

I got a friend interested in handguns, and he wants to try out some different pistols... Not necessarily shooting them, but at least seeing how it fits his hands.

My question is who has the largest selection of handguns in the SF East Bay? We'd be coming from Pleasanton and be willing to drive as far as Irvington Arms. But this isn't going to be day trip. (that is to say, that driving more then an hour is out).

So where has the best selection?

    887 Howe Road, Ste. F
    Martinez, CA 94553

Targetmasters isn't that far, less than an hour, and it has an indoor range and rental fleet. Antioch Armory has better prices but a little smaller selection.

Make it a night trip and shoot at Target Masters until 12 Between all else that's out there go to Target Masters or Irvington (or both ).

If you dont mind making a drive over the richmond/ san rafael bridge...go to Bullseye in San Rafael.

Great selection and prices, not to menion the danged best customer service (in my experience) in the Bay Area.

Or try Highbridge Arms in San Francisco.

              Real Close

In Dublin (just a stones throw from you) is Dublin Knives and Guns at 6600 Dublin Blvd. I do not have there phone number but they are near the corner of Dublin Blvd. and Dougherty Road.

Not a huge stock on hand but they can and will order most anything, There in store stock is mostly Glock, HK, and Sig.

Go to Target Masters or Reeds to see what you want, then buy at Irvington Arms. Irvington is a small shop that doesn't stock a lot of handguns, but they can order anything on the list and they're generally cheaper than Reeds or Target Masters.

We have a new shop called J and R sports Supply in Livermore. We just took over the gun shop that used to be American Outdoor Sports. We are trying to change the shop up, one step at a time. We are going for a more customer service friendly shop.

Great! I would say that it will be a welcome change. I quit going there after I was treated badly twice.

Woohoo, happy to see that more gun shops are opening in the bay (or atleast changing for the better, never knew about the former shop anyway). After seeing all these new gun shops opening down south and up north there getting shut down I was starting to get depressed.

Oh man, this is awesome news! That place is only a few blocks from my house. I'll try and stop by tomorrow!

I bought my Buckmark from the previous owner, and while he was extremely coarse, he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. I don't think he had any desire to dish out 'customer service', though.

Bullseye has also taken over the Castro Valley Gun Store in Castro Valley, on Redwood across from Trader Joe's. Great customer service & and expanded their handgun inventory by about 5 fold. Thre visits in a row I bought a 3" nickel Smith 37, a Coonan 357 mag semi auto & Marlin 45/70. Came "that close" to grabbing a 6" 586 last weekend.
