I've used cigarette butts for earplugs when shot the M2 once. I always bring extra no matter of only a few people are going and they all have their own. I still always being a few extra plugs.

The funny thing is that i have a whole case of earplugs but they were in my gun bag that i forgot at home.
it sounds like everything is crackly like my ear has a blown speaker with the volume all the way up.
hopefully it goes away.

It cannot be inherited, nor can it ever be purchased.
You and no one alive can buy it for any price. It is impossible to rent and cannot be lent.
You alone and our own have earned it with...Your sweat, blood and lives. You own it forever.
The title is....."United States Marine".

You can buy a box of like 100 pairs of foam earplugs from Harbor Freight for like $8.
EVERY time you hear ringing... there's been permanent, irreversible damage. Good news is you typically have to do it a LOT of times to see noticeable loss.Comment

My hearing is shot. (pun intended)
I did a lot of shooting without protection when I was a kid. That, and Rock & Roll in the sixties did the job. I have constant hissing in my ears, and very poor hearing overall. My right ear is the worst. I assume that is because it is the closer ear to the gun for a right handed person.Comment

Take good care of your ears and use ear protection, even if it's just rubber earplugs.
I always use hearing protection, except when I'm hunting (and occasionally plinking with a .22LR rifle). You should too, and so should all shooters. Otherwise you might regret it one day.WTB: French & Finnish firearms. WTS: raw honey, tumbled .45 ACP brass, stupid cat.Comment

You probably permanently lost a bit of hearing range, but you should be fine for the most part. The ringing will go away, don't forget next time.Comment
